Off Road Kids Stiftung

The Off Road Kids Foundation is the only nationwide aid organization in Germany that supports street children, young homeless people, and young people up to age 27 who are at immediate risk of homelessness.

Off Road Kids Foundation: Helping Homeless Youth Since 1993

As explicitly stated in its bylaws, the Off Road Kids Foundation has the sole purpose of helping particularly vulnerable children, adolescents, and young adults (up to age 27) who are in emergency situations and/or have little or no family support, and to help ensure that the situation of these individuals improves in a long-term and sustainable manner. Since its founding in 1993, Off Road Kids has been guided by the mission of working together with young people who are experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of homelessness at risk of homelessness, to find the best possible, most viable, and most sustainable life prospects for them individually. Off Road Kids Jugendhilfe gGmbH continuously refines its services in response to changing needs.

Nationwide, social workers at Off Road Kids have successfully helped more than 12,000 young people since 1993 find new housing or secure housing that had just become available. Tens of thousands have received counseling on existential problems since 1993.

Originally, Off Road Kids saw itself as a bridge between street children who were hiding in major German cities and their parents, support organizations, and child welfare agencies in their home regions—which were sometimes far away. This has changed significantly due to the constant availability of the internet, smartphones, and social media. Today, through the platform sofahopper.de, Off Road Kids is already in contact with many young people throughout Germany who are at acute risk of homelessness—even before they even consider fleeing to major cities.
